COLOMBO (News 1st): The Attorney General has requested the Chief Justice to appoint a new three-judge bench at the Trial-at-Bar to hear the case filed against former Defence Secretary Hemasiri Fernando and former IGP Pujith Jayasundara over their failure to prevent the Easter Sunday terror attacks.
The Attorney General informed the Colombo High Court of this request.
The case has been filed against the two former officials on charges including criminal negligence and dereliction of duty, for failing to act on intelligence warnings received prior to the 2019 Easter Sunday bombings.
