COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lanka welcomed a total of 896,884 tourists during the first four months of 2025, marking a notable increase compared to the same period in 2024, according to the Sri Lanka Tourism Development Authority (SLTDA).

In April 2025 alone, the country recorded 174,608 tourist arrivals, up from 148,867 in April 2024—a 17% year-on-year increase.

However, the April figure also reflects a decline compared to the first three months of 2025, which each saw over 229,000 arrivals.

Despite the month-on-month dip in April, tourism officials remain optimistic, citing seasonal fluctuations and global travel trends. The overall upward trajectory signals a strong recovery for Sri Lanka’s tourism sector, which continues to rebound following pandemic-era disruptions.
