Urban Planning Key to Boosting Sri Lanka's Tourism

COLOMBO (News 1st) – President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has emphasized the potential to transform Sri Lanka into an attractive tourist destination through advanced urban planning.

The President made these remarks during a discussion with officials from the National Physical Planning Department held today at the Presidential Secretariat.

President Dissanayake instructed officials to ensure that urban development plans reflect Sri Lankan identity.

He stressed the importance of not only developing urban areas but also focusing on rural development to boost the national economy.

The discussions highlighted the government's plans to enhance the rural economy while preserving the cultural and community identity of rural areas.
