COLOMBO (News 1st) – The Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP) conducted interviews in Kandy to select candidates for the upcoming local government elections.
Former Member of Parliament Johnston Fernando highlighted the significant interest among candidates to represent the SLPP, stating, "This clearly shows the great enthusiasm to secure candidacy from the SLPP."
Former Member of Parliament Janaka Tissa Kuttiarachchi emphasized the role of former President Mahinda Rajapaksa in ending the war and developing the country.
He stated, "The war was not ended by Anura Kumara Dissanayake, Ranil Wickremesinghe, or Sajith Premadasa. It was Mahinda Rajapaksa who ended the war and developed the country. Our leaders have taught us to rise stronger from every defeat, and we will demonstrate this in the local government elections."
Former Member of Parliament C.B. Ratnayake expressed confidence in the SLPP's future, saying, "There is a strong belief among the people that we should be brought back to power to work for the country."
