COLOMBO (News 1st); The Republic of Korea handed over biomedical engineering equipment and eight fully equipped mobile workshops to the Ministry of Health through the Korea Foundation for International Healthcare (KOFIH).

The official handover ceremony was graced by Miyon Lee, the Ambassador of the Republic of Korea, Dr. Nalinda Jayathissa, Minister of Health and Mass Media, Deputy Minister of Health Hon. Dr. Hansaka Wijemuni and Dr. Ha Il-Soo, President of KOFIH.

The donation of the mobile workshop and biomedical engineering equipment is part of a $7.2 million biomedical engineering capacity-building project launched in 2019, which aims to strengthen Sri Lanka’s ability to maintain and repair essential medical equipment.

The mobile workshops will provide on-site repair and maintenance services to ensure that hospitals and clinics, particularly in remote areas, have fully functional medical devices.

During her address, Ambassador Lee emphasised that “these biomedical engineering resources will significantly strengthen Sri Lanka’s healthcare system and reinforce the country’s ability to provide essential medical services effectively."
