COLOMBO (News 1st) – President Anura Kumara Dissanayake has announced that structural reforms will be implemented within Sri Lanka Customs to create a modern institutional framework.
The President made these remarks during a discussion on budget and institutional restructuring held today at the Presidential Secretariat with senior officials from Sri Lanka Customs.
The discussion also addressed the current inefficiencies, corruption, and public dissatisfaction within Sri Lanka Customs.
To address these issues, plans are being made to utilize new technology to streamline operations and enhance service delivery.
The President's Media Division reported that new restructuring plans were also discussed during the meeting.
President Dissanayake instructed officials to enforce strict laws to eliminate irregularities within Sri Lanka Customs.
The President also emphasized the importance of human resource management, accelerating new recruitments, and developing infrastructure.
He acknowledged the revenue targets achieved by Customs last year and discussed the necessary measures to meet this year's revenue goals.
