COLOMBO (News 1st); The National Leprosy Eradication Programme has reported the detection of approximately 1,500 leprosy cases in the country over the past year.
Dr. Nirupa Pallewatta, the program's director, highlighted that the highest number of cases were recorded in the Western Province, accounting for 40% of the total cases.
Dr. Pallewatta noted that the Leprosy Eradication Month is currently underway, which has led to an increase in the identification of patients.
