COLOMBO (News 1st): Multiple police teams have commenced investigations into a fatal shooting incident in the Mahabodhiwatta area of Hiniduma, Galle, which resulted in the deaths of three individuals.
Senior police officials have stated that the motive behind the killings remains unknown.
The shooting occurred between 10:00 and 10:30 PM last night.
According to police reports, five individuals were consuming alcohol at an unused hotel in the Mahabodhiwatta area when two assailants arrived on a motorcycle and opened fire with a T56 assault rifle, discharging approximately 15 rounds.
The three victims, who succumbed to their injuries at the scene, have been identified as a 55-year-old hotel owner from Panangala, a 34-year-old resident of Hiniduma, and a resident of Ambalangoda.
Police have confirmed that there is no evidence to suggest that the deceased were involved in organized crime.
Two other individuals present at the scene managed to escape unharmed.
A magistrate's inquiry was conducted this morning, and further investigations are being carried out by the Hiniduma Police.
