COLOMBO (News 1st); The Criminal Investigation Department (CID) arrested Susantha de Silva, a former Managing Director of the Ceylon Petroleum Corporation (CPC), on charges of misappropriating Rs 6.1 million in 2014.
This arrest follows the earlier detention of former Minister Anura Priyadarshana Yapa, his wife, and three others in connection with the same case.
The CID revealed that the funds, intended for flood relief in Bingiriya and Narammala, were allegedly diverted for campaign activities during the 2015 presidential election.
De Silva is scheduled to be presented before the Colombo Magistrate's Court today.
