Committee Submits Report on Revising Certified Paddy Prices to Ministry of Finance

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The committee appointed to investigate the revision of the certified price of paddy has submitted its report to the Ministry of Finance.


 

According to Secretary to the Ministry of Agriculture, D.P. Wickramasinghe, the committee’s investigation considered the costs of inputs used for paddy cultivation in recent months.

 

Following the submission of the report, the recommendations have been forwarded to the Ministry of Finance, where a decision will be made regarding the revision of paddy prices.


 

During the last Yala season, the certified prices were set at Rs. 105 per kilogram for Nadu, Rs. 115 per kilogram for Samba, and Rs. 130 per kilogram for Keeri Samba.

 

Meanwhile, the Paddy Marketing Board said that storage facilities have been prepared to store the Maha season's paddy harvest, with plans to begin purchasing the harvest next month.
