COLOMBO (News 1st) - The government is taking steps to revise the country's disaster management framework.
Deputy Minister of Defence, Retd Major General Aruna Jayasekara, said that these steps are taken considering the prevailing weather conditions.
Accordingly, a new program will bring together all state institutions, ministries, civil organizations, and the tri-forces.
The program will prioritize identifying hazards and strengthening the early warning system to better prepare for potential disasters.
