COLOMBO (News 1st) - Seven people have died in Jaffna due to Leptospirosis, with 58 cases confirmed so far.
Dr. Thushani Dabarera from the Epidemiology Unit of Ministry of Health, stated that the cases have been reported from Point Pedro, Chavakachcheri, and Karaivetti MOH divisions in Jaffna.
Dr. Dabarera said that special programs are being implemented to educate the public in these areas.
In addition to Leptospirosis, cases of influenza and dengue have also been reported.
She urged people experiencing fever to seek medical attention.
Meanwhile, a 23-year-old man who had fever passed away yesterday while receiving treatment at Point Pedro Hospital.
The cause of his death has not yet been confirmed.
