Floods Affect 475,225 People in 24 Districts

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Several spells of showers will occur in Northern and Eastern provinces.

A few showers will occur in Galle and Matara districts. Mainly fair weather will prevail elsewhere.

Misty conditions can be expected most places of the island during the morning.

Strong winds of (40-45) kmph can be expected at times over Northern, North-central, North-western, Central and Southern provinces.


Several areas are still inundated due to floods caused by the recent heavy rainfall.

More than 24 districts have been affected by disasters linked to the continuous rains.

According to the Disaster Management Centre, a total of 141,151 families and 475,225 people have been impacted by the floods.

The center also reported significant damage to homes, with 106 houses completely destroyed and 2,516 homes suffering partial damage.
