COLOMBO (News 1st) - Election observers have declared the 2024 parliamentary election in Sri Lanka as peaceful, fair, and transparent.
The assessment was presented in the final report by a team of 10 foreign observers invited by the Election Commission.
The Chairman of the Election Commission, R.M.A.L Rathnayake stated that the report highlighted the high standards of transparency at the election.
The final reports from ANFREL and EU officials are expected tomorrow.
This year’s parliamentary election was monitored by over 10,000 local and foreign election observers.
This included 43 foreign representatives, with three from the European Union, 30 from ANFREL, and 10 from neighboring countries.
Nearly 10,000 local observers from 10 organizations actively monitored the election process.
PAFFREL deployed 5,000 observers, while eight organizations received authorization for mobile surveillance operations.
