Hostel Closed After Foreign National's Death

COLOMBO (News 1st); A hostel in Colpetty has been temporarily closed by court order following the death of a foreign national.

The closure order was issued by the Fort Magistrate's Court after police presented their findings related to the incident.

The police stated that the hostel will remain closed until it meets proper health standards and receives necessary health approvals.

The incident involved a young British woman who was staying at the hostel and was admitted to the National Hospital of Sri Lanka, where she passed away on the afternoon of February 1st due to a sudden illness.

Additionally, a German couple who were also staying at the hostel are currently receiving treatment at the Colombo National Hospital.

The deceased has been identified as a 24-year-old British woman.

Further investigations into the incident are ongoing.
