Chief Police Inspector Arrested for Accepting Bribe Worth Rs. 20,000

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A Chief Police Inspector has been arrested for accepting a bribe worth Rs.20 000/=in Gampola.

According to the Commission to investigate allegations of Bribery or Corruption the officer was arrested based on information receivd by a resident of the Illawathura, Gampaha.

The suspect was arrested as he accepted a bribe worth Rs.20,000/= as transportation costs to the Bribery Commission inorder to deliver a starement on the complaint.

Accordingly the Chief Police Inspector of the Gampola Police Division has been arrested in this regard.
