Constitutional Council to Decide on Acting IGP's Appointment

COLOMBO (News 1st); The Constitutional Council is scheduled to meet today under the chairmanship of Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena.

The meeting will take place at 2 PM in the parliamentary complex, with the primary agenda being the final decision on the approval of Acting Inspector General of Police Priyantha Weerasooriya's appointment.

According to regulations, if the Acting IGP serves for more than 14 days, the approval of the Constitutional Council is required.

Speaker Abeywardena stated that the new Prime Minister, Harini Amarasuriya, and Minister Vijitha Herath will also participate in today's meeting.
