Smoke Resurfaces From Burnt Factory, Chemical Leak Suspected

COLOMBO (News 1st): Just five months after a raging inferno devastated a warehouse in Homagama Industrial Zone, Sri Lanka, smoke has once again been reported billowing from the site, raising concerns about a potential chemical leak.

On August 17th, 2023, the warehouse, storing chemicals including chlorine granules, succumbed to a massive fire. 

The intense blaze took firefighters hours to control, leaving behind a smoldering skeleton of a structure.

Since last night, reports of smoke emanating from the warehouse have resurfaced, prompting immediate action from authorities.

Fire and Rescue officials swiftly responded to the reports, arriving at the scene to assess the situation. 

While the exact cause of the smoke remains unconfirmed, authorities suspect a chemical leak might be at play.
