COLOMBO (News 1st) - Awareness programs on energy management are scheduled to be held at school level on April 7 and 9, as part of broader efforts to promote efficient energy use across the country.
These plans were discussed at the third meeting of the committee appointed to ensure the systematic maintenance of public services.
The committee highlighted that similar awareness initiatives are also being conducted online within universities.
It was revealed that the Ministry of Health and Mass Media has achieved a significant reduction in fuel consumption, saving 42% of diesel by March 31.
Officials also noted that electricity and water management programs are currently being implemented successfully.
Meanwhile, the Ministry of Public Administration confirmed that examinations, including the Grama Niladhari Entrance Examination, were conducted as scheduled without disruption.
Several key ministries, including Transport, Digital Economy, and Justice, have continued to operate services by deploying essential staff while maintaining online systems to ensure uninterrupted public service delivery.
Attention was also drawn to the ongoing monitoring of fuel usage and energy management practices within government institutions.
