Ship-in-a-Box Maritime Training Simulator Opened

COLOMBO (News 1st); The inauguration of the US-funded  “Ship-in-a-Box” at the Coast Guard Station in Kirinda took place in the presence of US Ambassador to Sri Lanka Julie Ching.

The innovative center, crafted from standard shipping containers resembling a merchant vessel’s bridge, provides a near real-life experience to train Coast Guard and other law enforcement agencies, including Sri Lanka Navy, on boarding procedures to inspect ships.  

This facility will help train Sri Lanka Coast Guard personnel in search & seizure operations to protect its sovereign waters, bolstering our collective ability to combat maritime crime threats across the Indian Ocean region.
