Water supply restored to several affected areas, after water pipe burst

Colombo(News1st)  : Water supply has been restored to Homagama, Pannipitiya, and several other affected areas, after an accident in Godagama caused a water transmission pipe at the Kalatuwawa Water Purification Plant to burst.

The Assistant General Manager of Operations and Maintenance, at the National Water Supply Board, Kumudu Wijegunawardena said, the National Water Supply Board worked through the night to fix the broken pipe, which burst yesterday morning near Godagama.

The cause of the break was a car accident where the driver reportedly fell asleep at the wheel.

Around 100,000 people were inconvenienced by the water disruption.
