University Non-Academic Staff Strike Reaches Day 46

COLOMBO (News 1st); The strike initiated by non-academic staff at universities continues into its 46th day today.

This action is driven by several demands, primarily addressing wage disparities.

As a result, weekend courses have also been disrupted.

Dhammika S. Priyantha, Chairman of the Joint Committee of University Trade Unions, stated that a final decision regarding the continuation of the strike will be made following the discussion called by Professor Sampath Amaratunga, Chairman of the University Grants Commission, scheduled for Tuesday.

Meanwhile, the trade union actions initiated by government surveyors and engineers of the Road Development Authority are ongoing.
