Decision On AGs Service Extension Postponed

COLOMBO (News 1st); The final decision on granting a one-year service extension to Attorney General Sanjay Rajaratnam has been postponed until next Tuesday.

Speaker Mahinda Yapa Abeywardena announced that a conclusive decision could not be reached during yesterday's Constitutional Council session.

The Constitutional Council convened at the Parliament complex.

President Ranil Wickremesinghe had recommended the extension of Rajaratnam's service for an additional year.

The Constitutional Council will make the final determination regarding the approval or disapproval of this recommendation in due course.
