Dry Weather Impact Survey Begins Across Affected Districts

COLOMBO (News1st);A survey has been initiated to assess the impact of dry weather conditions on the livelihoods of people in affected districts.

Ministry of Defense Media Spokesperson Prageeth Danansuriya stated that the survey is being conducted at the Divisional Secretariat level.

The survey will examine the impact on individuals engaged in agriculture, fisheries, livestock farming, and small-scale employment.

Based on these reports, a mechanism will be formulated to provide them with relief.

Meanwhile, the number of people affected by the dry weather across 8 districts has risen to 163,869.

Monaragala District has been the hardest hit, with 43,638 affected individuals.

The Disaster Relief Services Centre stated that people in several areas across Ampara, Badulla, Batticaloa, Matale, Polonnaruwa, and Ratnapura districts have also been affected by the dry weather.

The distribution of water to those affected by the dry weather continues uninterrupted.
