COLOMBO (News 1st); The Criminal Investigations Department (CID) has recorded a lengthy statement from Assistant Director of the Medical Supply Division, Devasanti Solomon.
Solomon, currently in remand custody, was questioned for over five hours yesterday, starting at 9 am, within the prison premises as per court orders.
The CID confirmed that Solomon's statement was related to the purchase of substandard immunoglobulin vials.
Four individuals, including Solomon, were arrested last November in connection with the alleged purchase of substandard immunoglobulin vials.
Meanwhile, the CID reported a delay in receiving crucial documents from the Ministry of Health. Specifically, the files related to the drug transaction have not yet been handed over by the government analyst.
The department further clarified that the files they have received from the Ministry have been forwarded for inspection.
This development follows the recent court order authorizing the CID to inspect the office of Dr. Saman Ratnayake, Additional Secretary of the Ministry of Health. Following the inspection, the relevant files were taken into CID custody.
