School Transport Services hike charges based on fuel price revision

COLOMBO (News 1st); The All Island Inter District School Children Transportation Association said that it would increase its charges by 5% with effect from Friday (1) following the fuel price hike that came into effect on Thursday (31) night.

"Diesel was increased by Rs. 35/- with effect from Thursday (31) night. That impacts our services. When the government reduced the prices, we reduced our charges to provide relief to the parents. However, at this time we are facing serious issues, given that with the diesel price hike, the charges for other services, including insurance, have increased," said N. M. K. Harischandra Padmasiri the Chairman of the All Island Inter District School Children Transportation Association

He said that the fee of Rs. 5,000/- will see an increase of Rs. 250/- with the 5% hike, and the fee of Rs. 10,000/- will see an increase of Rs. 500/- with the 5% hike with effect from Friday (1). 

The Ceylon Petroleum Corporation increased fuel prices with effect from midnight on Thursday (31). 

92 Octane Petrol (1l) was increased by Rs. 13/- to Rs. 361/-.

95 Octane Petrol (1l) was increased by Rs.  42/- to Rs. 417/-.

Auto Diesel (1l) was increased by Rs.  35/- to Rs. 341/-.

Super Diesel (1l) was increased by Rs. 1/- to Rs. 359/-.
