Power supply to the national grid to be enhanced soon - CEB

COLOMBO (News 1st): The Ceylon Electricity Board says that the proposals for the project to increase the capacity of the electricity transmission system in the southern province will be completed within the next 5 days, with the permission of the owner of the related land to lay the wiring in the section which was obstructing the construction of the final stage.

Accordingly, the laying of power lines above the land commenced today.

The General Manager of the Electricity Board Rohan Senaviratne said that the construction of the last phase of the transmission system from Polpitiya to Hambantota has commenced.

Meanwhile, he expressed confidence that the second generator of the Norochchole power plant, which is currently disabled, will be able to be connected to the national grid by next Wednesday night after repairs.

Accordingly, the General Manager stated that the stability of the national electricity system will be strengthened by Thursday.
