President Dissanayake Strengthens Economic Ties with UAE

COLOMBO (News 1st); Sri Lankan President Anura Kumara Dissanayake met with Sheikh Abdullah bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, CEO of Master Investment Group and a prominent figure in Ras Al Khaimah, at the Jumeirah Beach Hotel in Dubai. 

The discussions focused on enhancing economic and investment cooperation between Sri Lanka and the United Arab Emirates.

Following the meeting, President Dissanayake attended the prestigious ‘TIME 100 Gala Dinner’ at the renowned Museum of the Future in Dubai. 

The event was part of his visit to participate in the 2025 World Governments Summit, which commences today.

President Dissanayake is scheduled to address the summit tomorrow and will engage in bilateral discussions with leaders from several participating countries. 

His agenda includes meetings with top executives from leading global corporations in sectors such as information technology, artificial intelligence, energy, tourism, finance, and media, aiming to attract new investments to Sri Lanka.

Additionally, President Dissanayake will hold talks with the UAE President, Vice President, and Prime Minister to further strengthen bilateral relations. 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has confirmed that the President will also meet with other world leaders attending the summit.

Accompanying the President on this visit are Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment, and Tourism Vijitha Herath, among other officials. President Dissanayake is expected to return to Sri Lanka on the 13th of February.
