COLOMBO (News 1st): The Met Department predicts that Heavy showers above 100mm are likely at some places in Western, Sabaragamuwa, and Central provinces and in Galle and Matara districts.

This is due to the cyclonic storm “Mocha” over the Southwest Bay of Bengal having intensified into a severe cyclonic storm.

According to the forecast, showers are expected to increase in the Central, North Central, and Southern provinces.

Showers or thundershowers are predicted in the North, and North Central in the evening.

The met department requests the public to stay vigilant during lightning and temporary strong winds.

Meanwhile, due to the current adverse weather, the water levels of the Aththanagalu Oya, Kelani Ganga, Kalu Ganga, and Gin Ganga have risen.

Those living on either side of the river banks have been requested to stay vigilant in this regard.
