Extreme Weather: Landslide Red Alert Issued in Kandy, Nuwara Eliya

COLOMBO (News 1st): The National Building Research Institute (NBRI) has issued a Level 3 (Red) Landslide Early Warning for parts of Kandy and Nuwara Eliya districts, amid continued heavy rainfall. 

Authorities have advised residents in the affected areas to evacuate if the rain persists, in order to reduce the risk of landslides. 

In Kandy District, the warning covers Pasbage Korale Divisional Secretariat Division. 

In Nuwara Eliya District, the warning applies to Kotmale West, Kotmale East, Ambagamuwa and Norwood Divisional Secretariat Divisions.
