COLOMBO (News 1st) - The Meteorology Department has issued a warning that heavy rains exceeding 100mm may occur in several areas of the Western, Sabaragamuwa, Central, North-Western, and Southern provinces. After 2 pm, most parts of the island may experience showers or thunderstorms, including the Eastern province, Mullaitivu, and Hambanthota districts.

The rainy weather is expected to continue in many parts of the island over the next few days, according to the Met Department. The National Building Research Organization (NBRO) has issued landslide warnings for the districts of Badulla, Kegalle, and Kandy, with the Uda area of the Kandy District, Haldummulla in the Badulla District, and the Kegalle Divisional Secretariat in the Kegalle District being particularly at risk.

Due to the high risk of landslides in these areas, there is a possibility of rock and earth mounds falling onto roads, homes, and other structures.

Stay up to date on the latest weather alerts and take necessary precautions if you live in these areas.
