Heroin and ICE Seized from Parcel Abandoned Near Pooneryn Vidyalaya

COLOMBO (News1st): Police have taken into custody a large consignment of heroin and methamphetamine ("ICE") discovered in an abandoned parcel near Pooneryn Vidyalaya on the Jaffna–Mannar road.

The recovery was made while a team of police officers on roadblock duty signalled two suspicious motorcycles to stop for inspection. Ignoring the order, both motorcyclists sped away, with one rider dropping a parcel at the scene before fleeing.

Upon inspecting the discarded package, officers found 14 small packets containing 13 kg 340 g of heroin and 1 kg 62 g of ICE.

Police have launched a further investigation to track down and arrest the suspects.
