COLOMBO (News1st): The Volunteer Advisory Council of the Ministry of Education was informed that a set of guidelines covering five age groups has been developed to promote students’ internet safety and digital well-being.
A pilot project based on these guidelines is scheduled to be implemented next November.
The council met at Parliament under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Harini Amarasuriya.
Addressing the meeting, the Prime Minister said Cabinet approval had been granted for several proposals and policies related to the ongoing education reforms.
These include the concept paper on education reforms prepared by the National Education Commission, as well as the revised National Curriculum Framework and the Student Assessment Framework from Grade 1 to Grade 11, submitted by the National Institute of Education.
The Prime Minister also said a subcommittee was working to strengthen quality assurance in both state and non-state education sectors.
Meanwhile, Deputy Minister of Education Dr. Madhura Seneviratne said special committees had been appointed to formulate policies for engineering, medical and agricultural education at the higher education level.
