COLOMBO (News 1st) ; Fox Resorts, the hospitality arm of The Capital Maharaja Group, has been named Leading Hospitality Development Company at the South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) 2026.
The award was presented at the SATA 2026 ceremony held in Malé, Maldives, recognizing Fox Resorts' contribution to hospitality development and its growing presence within the South Asian tourism industry.
The latest accolade follows a strong track record for the brand, including Fox Jaffna's achievement of being named SATA's Leading Heritage Hotel for three consecutive years.
Fox Resorts currently owns and operates Fox Jaffna and Fox Kandy, two properties known for their blend of Sri Lankan hospitality, heritage, natural surroundings and distinctive guest experiences.
The award also recognizes the company's broader approach to hospitality development. Through Fox Faculty, the organization continues to invest in training and developing future hospitality professionals, while Fox Vacations supports the group's travel operations through inbound and outbound travel services.
Sustainability has also become a key pillar of the company's growth strategy. Across its properties, Fox Resorts has implemented initiatives focused on water conservation, wastewater reuse, solar hot water systems, reducing single-use plastics, responsible waste management, linen reuse programmes and community clean-up projects.
The company also actively supports local artisans, creative industries, community initiatives and animal welfare programmes, while aligning its operations with the principles of the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC) framework.
Commenting on the achievement, Group CEO of The Capital Maharaja Group, Suresh Srinivasan, said the recognition reflects the group's belief in investing in people and creating an organizational culture where excellence is a shared responsibility.
He said Fox Resorts demonstrates how developing talent and strengthening service standards can contribute meaningfully to Sri Lanka's hospitality sector while delivering sustainable business growth.
The recognition comes as The Capital Maharaja Group continues to expand its hospitality footprint. The company is scheduled to open a new luxury wellness hotel in Kirinda, Yala in December 2026.
The new property will combine a beachfront setting with Ayurveda-inspired therapies, yoga, meditation, nutrition, mindfulness and curated wellness experiences, creating a wellness-focused destination for both local and international travellers.
Fox Resorts CEO Chris Quyn credited the achievement to the dedication of the entire team, noting that guest experience remains at the heart of the company's operations.
He said the same values that have driven the success of Fox Resorts to date will continue to guide the brand as it expands into the wellness tourism sector.
Established in 2016, the South Asian Travel Awards is regarded as one of the region's leading platforms for recognising excellence in travel, tourism and hospitality, with winners selected through a combination of industry evaluation and public voting.
