China Confirms Xi Jinping US Visit

COLOMBO (News 1st); Chinese President Xi Jinping will pay a state visit to the United States from September 23 to 25 at the invitation of U.S. President Donald J. Trump, according to an announcement by China's Foreign Ministry.

The visit comes at a significant moment in relations between the world's two largest economies, as Beijing and Washington continue efforts to manage key economic, trade and technological issues through high-level dialogue.

The announcement was made by the Chinese Foreign Ministry, which also revealed that Chinese and U.S. officials held what it described as candid, in-depth and constructive consultations on economic and trade matters on Sunday.

The discussions were led by Chinese Vice Premier He Lifeng, who headed the Chinese delegation, and included talks with U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent and U.S. Trade Representative Jamieson Greer in New York.

According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, the talks were guided by the important consensus reached by the leaders of both countries and focused on major economic and trade issues of mutual concern. Officials also reviewed the implementation of agreements and understandings reached during previous rounds of negotiations.

China said both sides conducted the discussions based on the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence and win-win cooperation, underscoring efforts to maintain dialogue despite ongoing differences in several areas.

In addition to trade and economic matters, the two delegations also exchanged views on artificial intelligence.
