Wife Arrested Over 2018 Abduction and Murder of Retired Soldier

COLOMBO (News 1st); A woman has been arrested in connection with the abduction, murder and disappearance of a retired Army soldier in Kirindiwela, in a major breakthrough in an investigation into the 2018 crime.

The arrest was made by the Homicide and Organized Crime Investigation Division of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID).

Investigators had opened inquiries after receiving information relating to the murder, which is alleged to have taken place on September 9, 2018.

Following investigations, the suspect was arrested in the Narangaspitiya area of Kirindiwela on allegations of aiding and abetting the crime and conspiring in the commission of the murder.

Police identified the suspect as the 49-year-old wife of the retired Army soldier who was allegedly abducted, murdered and subsequently made to disappear.
