Rumesh Tharanga Makes History as Sri Lanka’s First Diamond League Champion

COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka's Rumesh Tharanga Pathirage claimed victory in the Men’s Javelin Throw at the Diamond League Final in Brussels, Belgium held yesterday (05). 

Rumesh Tharanga is the first-ever Sri Lankan athlete to be crowned a Diamond League Champion.

He produced a sensational 89.04m throw to claim victory in the Men’s Javelin Throw at the Diamond League Finals. 

The historic throw came on his third attempt, as Tharanga produced a remarkable performance that saw him make history for Sri Lanka and etched his name firmly on the global athletics stage.
