COLOMBO (News 1st); Former President Gotabaya Rajapaksa appeared before the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court today, seeking permission to travel overseas for medical treatment.
A motion filed by Gotabaya Rajapaksa in relation to his request to travel abroad was taken up once again before Colombo Fort Magistrate Pasan Amarasena.
Through the motion, the former President has requested that the court lift the overseas travel ban imposed on him in order to undergo follow-up treatment in Singapore following heart surgery.
The Magistrate ordered that notice be issued on the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), directing it to appear before court at 2.00 p.m. on November 4 and present submissions regarding the request.
Approximately four months ago, the Colombo Fort Magistrate's Court imposed a foreign travel ban on Gotabaya Rajapaksa in connection with investigations relating to the Easter Sunday Terror Attacks.
