Former Hambantota Mayor Eraj Fernando Found Dead

COLOMBO (News 1st): The body of former Hambantota Mayor Eraj Fernando was found inside a house owned by him at Havelock City, Colombo, Police said.

According to Police, it is suspected that he died after allegedly hanging himself.

He was 57 years old at the time of his death.

Eraj Fernando entered local government politics representing the United People's Freedom Alliance (UPFA) and was elected Mayor of the Hambantota Municipal Council in 2014.

He was re-elected as Mayor of the Hambantota Municipal Council for a second term in 2018, with the support of the Sri Lanka Podujana Peramuna (SLPP).
