Supreme Court To Begin Hearing Petitions Challenging 22A

COLOMBO (News1st); The consideration of petitions filed challenging the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution Bill begins today.

A five-judge bench was appointed yesterday to hear these petitions.

The bench is chaired by Chief Justice Preethi Padman Surasena.

The other members of the bench are Justices Achala Wengappuli, Arjuna Obeyesekere, Sampath Abeykoon, and Gihan Kulatunga.

The period for submitting petitions to the Supreme Court regarding the 22nd Amendment to the Constitution Bill ended yesterday, with over 50 petitions having been filed.
