Foreign Minister Vijitha Herath Discusses Disaster Situation in Nepal with Nepalese Counterpart

COLOMBO (News 1st): Sri Lanka's Minister of Foreign Affairs, Foreign Employment and Tourism Vijitha Herath says Sri Lanka remains committed to supporting Nepal amid the prevailing disaster situation in the country.

In a post on X, Minister Herath said he held a productive telephone conversation with Nepal’s Foreign Minister, Shisir Khanal, to discuss the current situation.

He ensured that Sri Lanka’s Disaster Management Centres will coordinate closely with their Nepalese counterparts to identify and provide any specific assistance that may be required.

Minister Herath stressed that the coordination is aimed at ensuring that Sri Lanka provides the appropriate support during the ongoing emergency.

He further reaffirmed Sri Lanka’s steadfast solidarity and commitment to Nepal, describing the country as a close friend and neighbour.

Meanwhile, arrangements have also been made to assist Sri Lankan nationals in Nepal who may require emergency support amid the prevailing situation.
