Final Randoli Perahera of Kandy Esala Perahera To Take To The Streets Tonight

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The final Randoli Perahera of the historic Kandy Esala Perahera at the Temple of the Sacred Tooth Relic will take to the streets tonight.

This will mark the culmination of the nine-day Esala Perahera festival.

A large number of local and foreign tourists, as well as Buddhist devotees, are already arriving in Kandy to witness the procession.

Our correspondents report that facilities have been arranged for those arriving to attend the event.

Meanwhile, a special security and traffic plan will be implemented in Kandy city and surrounding areas today for the final Randoli Perahera.

Police stated that an additional 250 police officers will be deployed to ensure security in 
Kandy and the surrounding areas.

Police further stated that over the past several days, security for the Esala Perahera was provided by 6,200 police officers, 1,200 members of the tri-forces, and 546 Special Task Force personnel.
