Australian Investors Pledge Commitment to Direct Investment in Sri Lanka

COLOMBO (News 1st) - A number of leading investors and entrepreneurs from Australia have expressed full commitment for direct investments in several key sectors in Sri Lanka.

The commitment comes in line with the national programme to strengthen Sri Lanka’s manufacturing economy and attract foreign investment.

A special investment discussion related to these initiatives was held in Clyde North, Victoria, Australia.

The discussion was attended by a delegation including Minister of Industry and Entrepreneurship Development Sunil Handunnetti.

Special attention was given to establishing sustainable energy solutions and sustainable recycling processes in Sri Lanka’s apparel sector.

Discussions were also held on introducing a large-scale commercial dairy farming project with a capacity of 2,000 cattle, as well as a modern livestock breeding project designed to withstand the impacts of climate change.

Investors also agreed to implement several proposals, including the construction of a large-scale manufacturing facility focused on 3D printing technology and equipment using recycled plastic, centred around the Ekala Industrial Estate of the Industrial Development Board.

Australia has also expressed appreciation for the transparency, credibility and government support that are emerging within Sri Lanka’s business sector under the current administration.
