COLOMBO (News 1st): Information regarding properties of a major drug trafficker Shiran Basik who was arrested has been revealed during interrogations.
The suspect claimed during questioning that he owns five hotels along Colombo's Marine Drive.
Investigation teams are continuing to question him regarding his properties as well as the drug trafficking operations.
Permission has been granted to detain and question the suspect for 72 hours.
The suspect is being investigated by the Colombo Central Crime Investigation Bureau.
Shiran Basik, who had fled the country and hiding in Dubai, was arrested and deported to Sri Lanka.
He was brought back to the island last night (15).
The 48-year-old suspect is a resident of Dehiwala.
Police stated that investigations are also being conducted into whether he had any involvement in recent clashes that took place in the country's prisons.
Police revealed that information has been uncovered linking him to the 2012 Welikada Prison riot as well.
