Random Drug Tests to Be Conducted on Drivers of Three-Wheelers, School Vans and Heavy Vehicles

COLOMBO (News 1st) - The National Transport Medical Institute says steps will be taken to conduct random drug tests on drivers of three-wheelers, school vans and heavy vehicles who are suspected of driving under the influence of drugs. 

The Institute’s Chairman, Professor Clifford Perera, said inspections aimed at identifying bus drivers and conductors who operate public transport vehicles under the influence of drugs are already being carried out across five provinces.
