'Thotalanga Poddi' Arrested & Rs. 87.3 Mn in Drug-Funded Assets Seized

COLOMBO (News 1st); Officers attached to the Illegal Assets Investigation Division have arrested Vindani Priyadarshani Suriyarachchi, widely known as "Thotalanga Poddi."

Police said the arrest was made as part of an investigation into assets believed to have been purchased using proceeds generated through drug trafficking activities.

According to investigators, properties valued at approximately Rs. 87.3 million, allegedly acquired using funds linked to narcotics operations, have already been frozen and rendered inoperative under the ongoing investigation.

Police stated that Vindani Priyadarshani Suriyarachchi is expected to be produced before court in connection with the investigation.
