Nationwide Dengue Cases Top 82,000

COLOMBO (News 1st): The National Dengue Control Unit (NDCU) says a special mosquito control programme is being launched today in line with National Integrity Week.

Acting Director of the NDCU, Dr. Kapila Kannangara, said the programme is being conducted jointly by the Ministry of Health and the Clean Sri Lanka initiative and will continue until July 31.

The National Dengue Control Unit reports that 82,011 dengue cases have been recorded in Sri Lanka so far this year.

The NDCU also confirmed that 61 deaths have been attributed to dengue this year.

Meanwhile, the "Stop Dengue – National Dengue Control Programme" is being carried out for the 15th consecutive day across the Western Province.

The initiative is being jointly organized by the Ministry of Health and Mass Media, and the Maharaja Media Network, led by News 1st, covering the Colombo, Gampaha, and Kalutara districts.

Today's inspections will focus on Aluthkade in the Colombo District, Katunayake in the Gampaha District, and Kalutara Town in the Kalutara District.
