Government Committed To Equal Rights For Persons With Disabilities

COLOMBO (News 1st): Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya assured that policies formulated under the current government ensure persons with disabilities are entitled to exercise the same rights as others in the society.

She made these remarks while attending the launch of the "Sarasavi Diriya Abhiman" scholarship programme for students with disabilities, implemented through the President's Fund.

The Prime Minister stressed that persons with disabilities are an integral part of society.

She noted that the right of students with disabilities to pursue any field of study within the university system has been ensured.

Prime Minister Dr. Harini Amarasuriya further stated that creating an environment where students can continue their education without barriers is a shared responsibility.
