Veteran Singer Mariazelle Goonetilleke Passes Away

COLOMBO (News 1st) - Veteran Sri Lankan singer Mariazelle Goonetilleke has passed away at the age of 68.

She passed away this morning at the Kalubowila Teaching Hospital following a prolonged illness.

A prominent figure in Sri Lanka’s group music scene, Mariazelle Goonetilleke was an iconic presence on local concert stages for decades.

She first won the hearts of music lovers with the song “Kandy Lamissi”, followed by timeless hits including “Pahan Novana Reyaka,” “Yovun Sihina Loke,” “Kumaranane,” and “Sihina Nelum Mal.”
