Special Dengue Eradication Drive To Begin Tomorrow (5th)

COLOMBO (News 1st): A special dengue eradication programme will commence tomorrow (July 5th) across 23 high-risk dengue zones within the Western Province.

The programme is being coordinated by the Clean Sri Lanka Programme on behalf of the Presidential Secretariat.

In the Colombo District, the programme will be implemented in the Maharagama, Kaduwela, Homagama, Gothatuwa, Battaramulla and Piliyandala MOH divisions, as well as the areas surrounding the Colombo Municipal Council 

In the Gampaha District, it will cover the Biyagama, Kelaniya, Seeduwa, Ja-Ela, Mahara, Wattala, Negombo and Minuwangoda MOH divisions.

In the Kalutara District, the programme will be carried out in the Panadura, Bandaragama, Horana, Ingiriya and Kalutara MOH divisions.

The National Dengue Control Unit stated that 45 percent of all dengue cases reported so far this year have been recorded in these high-risk divisions.

A total of 58,810 dengue cases and 39 dengue-related deaths have been reported across the island so far.
